foley catheters

Foley Catheters, also called indwelling catheters, are a flexible tube that is passed through the urethra and into the bladder. The catheter connects to a balloon near the tip that is inflated with sterile saline in order to prevent the Foley from slipping out. Foley catheters are commonly available in silicone-coated latex, all silicone or silver coated latex.  They are designed to remain in place for up to 30 days, but can be changed more frequently if you are prone to urinary tract infections, mucus or clotting.
